Grading
Grading
Many of the QCG club competitions and most interclub competitions require members to be ‘graded’. This ensures that you are competing at the appropriate skill level. Grades used by QCG are A (our highest level), AB and B.
Our aim is to provide the opportunity for as much feedback on your work as possible, at a level which is appropriate. Feedback from judges is tailored to your level. Of course, you can also learn from feedback on everyone else’s images.
Members will be considered for upgrading at the end of the competition year, when the Grading Panel reviews Monthly Competition results (total score, average score and number of images entered). Upgrades are announced at the Annual Dinner.
Members may also request re-grading at any time, by resubmitting a portfolio of images.
Grading process
To be graded, the club asks you to submit 10 digital images showing a variety of subjects and styles. The Grading Panel (made up of the previous year’s highest scoring A Grade members and the club President) will consider your images, offer feedback and recommend a grade.
Size requirements can be found here under Digital (DPI) entries.
Once you have prepared your images, you will be submit them via MyPhotoClub. Please submit the Request for Grading form so that the Competitions Officer can arrange access for you.
Request for Grading
If you are a full member of the club and wish to be graded, please complete this form. The Competitions Officer will arrange your access to QCG’s MyPhotoClub group and respond as soon as possible with the next steps.
